Current Concepts 3: Leadership
Current Concepts 3: Leadership is the final article of the Current Concept series for Ocean Paddler Magazine. Continuing a conceptual approach to paddling in tidal races, I reached out to several of the world’s leading rough water guides and coaches – Phil Klegg, Paul Kuthe, Christopher Lockyer and Sean Morley. I interviewed each of these leaders to better understand their process for leading in the tidal environment. Gleaning insight from their experience and drawing from my own, I incorporated our collective experiences into a leadership style that I’ve found effective in dynamic waters – Action Centered Leadership.
Current Concepts: Leadership was a fun article to write. Not only are the four experts excellent leaders, they are friends. While much of what they “do” in the tidal waters aligns with my philosophies, there were nuances to each how each leader approached the environment. I love learning from other high level leaders.
